U.S. Women Could Be More Obese Than Believed

MONDAY, Apr 2 (HealthDay News) The approach that obesity is
currently totalled severely underestimates a tangible series of women who
are obese, a new investigate suggests.
Almost half of women now labeled as not portly by trait of their
body mass index (BMI) incited out to be portly when totalled by a newer
method focusing on their commission of body fat by weight, a research
found.
Researchers Dr. Eric Braverman, boss of a Path Foundation in New
York City, and Dr. Nirav Shah, a stream New York state health
commissioner, contend that an accurate dimensions of plumpness should include
percentage of physique fat as good as a ratio of tallness and weight famous as
BMI.

index, its probably totally unreliable, Braverman said.
Based on BMI alone, roughly 30 percent of Americans are obese, but
when we use other methods, closer to 60 percent are obese, he said. We
call BMI a baloney mass index, Braverman noted.
